ESCAPE TO XPU HA BEACH

Only a 25-minute drive from and reachable by public transport, this beach provides a more remote getaway and makes for a fun day trip out of Playa Del Carmen.

Part of the charm of this beach is that there is not a lot of things but just a little of everything: bathrooms, beach chair rentals, snorkel and kayak rentals, small beach bars, two small restaurants.
There is a 50 pesos entrance fee at the main gate but you can get it refunded if you spend 200 pesos on a meal.

QUINTA AVENIDA
​
One of the top tourist attractions in Playa Del Carmen, Quinta Avenida (Fifth Avenue) is a three-mile stretch of pedestrian walkway that run parallel to the beach.
It is rich in high-end retailers, bars, restaurants, local shops, cafes, street entertainment, and more,

Make sure to visit at different times of the day. In the morning when it’s calm and peaceful, grab a coffee or enjoy an uncrowded run. Midday to take a breather from the beach and shop. In the evening when it becomes the center of excitement with street performers.
If you're looking to bring back a few authentic souvenirs, look out for hand-painted ceramic pieces, large colorful blankets, and of course, alcohol. Before you purchase, make sure the item was made in Mexico.
If you have time, you may also want to explore a a few blocks beyond Quinta Avenida where you’ll find a handful of shops and restaurants that may be worth discovering.
